FFF = Favorite Friday Foto

I love this picture, my little future rock star and his teacher. I think I have mentioned Luke does EVERYTHING Dewey does. Notice the pic in Luke's mouth. He watched Dewey play and put the pic in his mouth. So he did the very same thing. And notice where they are sitting.... see we use our work out equipment all the time :) To be fair Dewey really did just workout, I'm the one that has not touched it. Hum, maybe I will start tomorrow, yea I'm sure I'll start tomorrow, or maybe the next day.....

Well its something............

Its been ONE MONTH since we have been out of PGN. I emailed our agency and asked if they knew of any updates. I received an email back saying "I believe they have your BC and tomorrow will do passport and then second DNA." I really hope that this is good news. We will know for sure once we see the charge for the DNA on our credit card. But hopefully this means if we get DNA authorization this week we will still travel to bring Kolby home in March.
I'll keep you updated, and let you all know as soon as we know something for sure.

Fun day on the slopes???

First ever Picture of Luke Skiing

He's much happier inside drinking HOT chocolate

Check out dad teaching Luke the "old school" ways

Well fun but not on the slopes. The plan was for us to spend the day at Brian Head, a local ski resort. Dewey was going to ski and Luke and I were going to play in the snow, wander around and have some lunch. It was blue Sky's in Cedar City when we left. It took less then 45 minutes to drive to Brian Head.... into a blizzard. The lifts were shut down because of the winds, no skiing for Dew. We thought we would just put Luke's skis on and play at the bottom of the lifts. (thanks to Jennie and her kids Luke has skis, they are a little big but at his age its not a big deal, thank you Jennie!!) As soon as Luke got out of the car he started yelling "my eyes, my eyes". I guess kids don't really like blizzard type snow blowing in their faces. We put his skis on and he played in the parking lot for all of 3 minutes. Then it was off to find something warm to drink.

Ouch and a Dentist appointment

Well Luke was being a three year old boy today. He was running at pre-school and fell, he hit his face on something not soft. He knocked his two front teeth loose and a little sideways. Luckily a Pediatric dentist just opened up in town. They were great and got us right in. Luke handled the whole thing much better then I thought he would. The dentist (who I'm pretty sure is younger then me) said hopefully his teeth will be fine. I guess we will know in a few weeks if they start to turn grey. (yuck) Luke needs to be on a "soft" food only diet for the next 10 days. Also we can't let him suck his fingers. For those of you that have not been around Luke longer then 5 minutes, he does this 75% of the day and night. Should be an adventure, bring on the yogurt, jello and pudding.

3 Weeks since PGN and......

Nothing, no updates, no info, no birth cert, no passport. UGGGGG!!!! I'm still calling every day to see if our credit card has been charged for Kolbys DNA test. As of five minutes ago no new charges. I think most who know me would agree that I'm a very patient and VERY optomistic person. I'm fine with timelines taking twice the norm as long as I know whats going on. Its this not knowing and not being able to find out anything that is starting to wear me down.............

Cool California Cousins

Dewey's sister Jana and her husband Marshal and their DARLING boys came by on their way through town. Their boys Canyon and August are the cutest little blond blue eyed boys ever!! They are Luke only cousins that are any where close to his age so I was excited for him to meet them. They all played so cute together. I was a little worried about him sharing Grandma and Grandpa's affections as he normally does not have to. But he was fine, which I hope is a good sign for when Kolby comes home. I am really glad we had the chance to spend some time with Jana and her family. Hopefully if we make it out to the the coast this year we can see them again.

Lil Love bug

Thank you G.G!!! Luke's G.G (Great Grandma) in Texas sent him his very first Valentine. He was so excited to open the box with his name on it. He loves his "bug" pillow and keeps it on his bed. He had a Valentines party at Preschool today. We filled out his cards last night. Mostly I did as he was not to interested in signing his name after the first card. But he was excited to take them to school today.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Adventure in the mud

Luke and I had quite the adventure today...in our own yard. Dewey had to run to Salt Lake for a conference so he took the Saturn and left us the Dodge. I had a late meeting so instead of pulling into the driveway I pulled around the back to feed the horses. (we do this all the time there is a road that goes all the way around the house) Well about 30 feet onto our property we just sunk. I realized two things, one I am no expert at getting out of the mud and two Luke repeats everything I say even the words I don't want him to. After we were good and stuck I remembered the Dodge has 4 wheel drive. After I figured out how to get us into 4 wheel drive we were able to get out of the hole and fish tail our way around the house. Hum I might need to wash the car before Dew gets home tomorrow. And I wonder if those ruts are going to just fill themselves back in. As I write this there is a full on white out blizzard out there. That might solve the problem if snow covers everything up :)

Harlem Globetrotters

Grandpa and Grandma took us to see the Harlem Globetrotters last night. It was the first time I had ever seen them, we all had a great time. In the pic with Luke sitting on Deweys shoulder everyone was doing the YMCA. Luke was really getting into it, what a proud moment for me. His first YMCA :)

My Wishes

My wishes..... this moment
That we hear something good from our agency tomorrow.
That Kolby's birth cert and passport comes through in the next few days.
That we get DNA auth this week.
Today has been a "twilight zone" day for me. Yesterday was Kolby's birthday. We received a medical report on a child that was not Kolby. My guess is a file mix up, we are waiting to see if we get any info on Kolby. I'm frustrated that every single step of this process has taken much longer then normal and I have no idea why. I don't like not knowing whats going on and feeling like there is no way for me to find anything out. Maybe tomorrow I will have my eternal optimism back but for this moment I'm tired and just want Kolby home.

Fun in St George

One of the great things about Cedar City is that its only 45 minutes away from St. George. We drove down on Sat to do some shopping and play. There is this beautiful park that is minutes from the city. Luke LOVED it!! There is this narrows opening between two rocks that people walk through. Its a VERY tight squeeze to get through it. Both Dew and I felt good about trying it and getting past our fears, mine claustrophobia, his getting stuck. Luke just plain had fun. It was nice to get out and enjoy the sun and do a little hiking.

Kolby Updates????

Sorry I wish we had something to report. I had hoped that we would have Kolby's new Birth certificate and passport by now. There is the possiblity that we do and have just not been notified. Once we have both the BC and Passport the US embassy authorizes Kolbys DNA to be taken for the second and last time. Pretty much the only way to know that has been done is to call and check our Credit card balance to see if it has been charged. I called today and it hasn't. But I will try again on Monday and every day until we see the charge. At that point we know we are making progress.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an Astronaut.
I thought for sure that I would one day I would ride in a space shuttle. Well as is the way with life I’m very content to be able to watch the shuttles lift off on TV. Luke and I both got to watch the Atlantis lift off today. It was the first time Luke’s had seen anything like it. We were both enthralled!! It still makes me a little emotional to see a successful lift off. Once the Atlantis was in the air we both clapped and yelled. Do I detect a future Astronaut??

Superbowl / Billy's Birthday

Cassidi came down on Sunday just in time for the Superbowl. We found out it was also Billy's Birthday, so double good reason to have a party. Grandma and Grandpa came over, we ate LOADS of food and played Commercial bingo. The last pic is Dewey and Luke watching the game in SHOCK that the Giants won. Dewey is a die hard Cowboys fan both he and Luke have jerseys. I have been a little slacking in buying 49er attire but by next season both boys will have 49er jerseys!! And wonderful news, Cass told us she is moving back down here to go to SUU in the fall. Both she and Billy are going to go. We are thrilled and so excited for them!!!

One year ago today....

We met Luke for the first time One year ago today!!
The moment he was put in my arms was simply surreal. I had waited 16 years to have a child. We had been traveling for 3 days to get to him. I had slept a little over that time Dewey not at all. We were there with two other couples. They took all of us into the Orphanage director’s office. The door opens and we see Luke, He was dressed in a huge coat and scarf and he was crying. They handed him to me; as soon as I stood up with him he stopped crying. Right about the time I started crying. In my arms was a two year old 16 pound little boy. And he was ours….. My mind had a hard time grasping that fact. After so many years of infertility, after the two year adoption process, it didn’t seem possible. I looked around and saw the other couples experiencing much the same feelings. The amount of emotion in that 12x12 room was staggering. Dewey stood up with me and the two of us just hugged Luke, we have a son! We didnt take any pictures of that moment, it didnt seem right to us. These pictures were taken within a few days of our first meeting.
February 2nd is a day that will forever be vivid in mymemory, it’s the day I fell in love with my son.
