A little of this a little of that

First of all a very happy fathers day (a tad late) to all those wonderful dads out there.

We had a very nice weekend. We decided that because we are going to be crazy busy for the next month or so we would just relax at home. On fathers day the boys and I got up and made breakfast for Dewey, with real meat :) Later on in the afternoon we met Dad and Winnie in town and went to see Kung Fu Panda 2. Very cute show with a great adoption message. (stinkin cartoons making me cry) Then out to dinner. I think both dads had a great time.

I took this picture on Fri, I think it speaks volumes about how amazing Dewey is as a dad. He is still in his business work clothes rolling around wrestling with the boys on the grass. He constantly amazes me, a simply wonderful dad.

Since yesterday was the first day of summer I thought I would add some pictures from a recent trip to the park. Let the summer fun begin!!

And one last thing to share. I love doing craft/art projects/re purposing things. I just don't get a lot of time to do them. Last year I bought this frame at the thrift store for $1. I had something in mind when I bought it but recently changed my mind. I am not a jewelry type girl. In fact I have the same jewelry box I have had since I was a teenager, its not full so why get a new one. But..... I do like necklaces and they were starting to get tangled shoved in my small jewelry box. So I took this frame with black cardboard and turned it into..

A hanging necklace holder

I love it!! I spray painted the frame and hooks, added another piece of cardboard, some quilt backing and soft cream fabric and there you have it.

An afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa's

We spent Memorial day at Grandma and Grandpa's house. The boys very favorite place to be. We had a BBQ and birthday cake to celebrate Dewey and Winnie's birthdays. The boys don't consider it a birthday celebrated without cake, singing and some candle blowing out.

They just happened to have baby crows in one of their trees. They seem pretty big to me but they are still young and staying close to their nest. At one point I looked up and there were 3 crows on the fence and 3 "boys" standing there looking at them. By the time I could grab my camera it was 4 crows and 3 boys kneeling down but I still like the picture.

How cute are these guys??

Winnie is a gardener extraordinaire. She has a BEAUTIFUL flower garden and vegetable garden every year. She found some lady bugs at a local nursery to help her flower garden. She was so sweet to buy two containers so the boys each got to let one of them free.
Kolby especially was fascinated with a whole container of lady bugs.

Of course a few just "happened" to crawl onto his hand

Luke was a little unsure about what he was supposed to do. But really liked looking at the lady bugs.

I just love these nature learning experiences. Hands on learning and fun, I'll take them any day.

We spent last weekend planting our garden, its the first days we have had that have not dropped to freezing temps. So much work but I was so happy to have everything in......only to have 50 mile an hour winds hit on Monday. So far the only plants that are still alive are the ones Winnie gave me from her greenhouse. Fingers crossed for our little plants to rally back. I will be seriously bummed if we don't have fresh veggies a plenty this year. I was a little spoiled last year.
